Carbon fiber, a lever for reducing CO2 gas

The treatment of carbon fiber waste: Axis of solution to climate change.

The heat wave that has hit France is not surprising since the Indian summers seem to be repeated.

WWA (World Weather Attribution) researchers have pointed out, in a recently published report, the responsibility for human activities in the climate change causing the rise in temperatures.

We could be sure, but it’s always good to call him back. Greenhouse gas emissions are hurting our planet and we realize this by watching the thermometer climb.
Climate forecasts in the next 20 years are alarming and the consequences would be disastrous.

Carbon fiber is one of the levers for reducing greenhouse gases. With 70% lighter weight than steel and superior strength, carbon fiber has become the most popular composite material in the aerospace and automotive industries. Archimedes would not contradict us, the laws of gravity are impenetrable. The heavier a body is, the less it holds in the areas. It is not for nothing that planes incorporate 50% carbon fiber in their primary structures. The automotive sector, seeking to lighten the weight of vehicles without losing quality, makes carbon fiber its main asset for decades to come. For 100 kg of load on a motor vehicle, one gram of CO2 escapes. The weight savings achieved by the use of carbon fiber are all polluting emissions to win. At this rate, carbon fiber production is expected to reach 100,000 tonnes per year in 2020 for the automotive industry alone.

As paradoxical as it may seem, if the production of this composite material contributes to environmental preservation, the management of its waste, whose volumes are constantly growing, harms our planet. Indeed, production cuts and other waste are for the vast majority of them buried underground or stored in inappropriate sites. This contradiction must quickly fade away in favor of a convergence of objectives between the use of carbon fiber and the treatment of its waste. This is the meaning of the Recycling Carbon network which, by relying on dynamic and innovative partners, manages to develop solutions adapted to industrial players. You too, join the Recycling Carbon network and contribute to the eco-responsible treatment of carbon fiber.
